| Lochtoberfest has come & gone. It was an interesting day. Some of the scenarios went well. Despite some setbacks, the Pandora's Box Football seemed to go well. The Zombie Attack did not. Tristan & I had some differing ideas and that caused some issue, but we ran it twice, the second going better than the first. The bardic and A&S both only had a turnout of 3. That was a little disappointing. HL Alden Drake won the bardic & I won A&S. Don Cael & I both got Serpent's Toils. I was really not expecting to get one, so I was quite surprised. Feast was good. Root beer was awesome. I made it home, but by the end of the night I felt so incredibly awful. I woke up this morning & I am now full blown sick. It sucks & sucks hard. | | |
| I anyone wanting to see the band Say Anything in Houston on Monday, November 16th? I really want to go, but don't want to go by myself and don't know that many people that are into them. Tickets, with the convenience charge and tax, are a little over $20 each. Great band, good venue, decent price. Someone please, don't make me go alone!

| I do not give a shit, fuck, or flying rat's ass about Jon Gosselin or what he's saying about his ex-wife. Please stop tryin to inform me. Also, in a total storm of awesome.... I was looking at clases for next semester and there are no Philosophy classes that I want. One PoliSci class that I really wanted to take was offered at the same time as another PoliSci class that I need. Who offers Intro to Law at the same time as Constitutional Law? Would no one want to take BOTH of those classes? The Classics class that I wanted, Roman, Jew & Christian, is not offered next semester, the other part of that class, Roman Republic, which I have already taken, is available. Damn! So I was just looking for shit to fill my schedule when I was browsing Art History. What did I spy? A Select Topics class entitled "Illuminated Medieval Manuscripts"-FTW!!!!! How awesome is that?!?!? OMFG-I must haz! That is all... | | |
| So it hit me after I won Gate's Edge Rapier: I have no idea where in this country I will be at this time next year. This is relevant now because it is possible for me to actually win tournaments. Not saying that I can go out and win whatever baronial championship I want, but it is possible that I can have good day and win at least a smaller shire list. I will have to make the decision whether or not to fight. I will also have to ask permission from the noble if someone could stand for me should I win. I will also have to ask that person to do so. It will most likely be a Don that is close to me, probably my own. This brings me to Bryn Gwlad. I have been wanting to go. I've never been to a BG Baronial. It's a really cool theme. I don't like fighting epee, but I have even made a rattan rapier dagger that just needs a stabbing tip (have to go to dad's to get the foam). I have an idea for my old leather doublet to make it more "period." So I was getting into the spirit. However, it doesn't look like E is going to be able go, Dad is most likely not going, and the local people that I usual travel have various plans to be in other places. I really don't want to daytrip GB by myself. Actually, I don't want to go to BG by myself at all. It's starting to look more & more attractive to skip this event. Downsides: I like fighting, events, and the people I will see there plus there are two peers being made. Counters: It's an epee tournament meant to be more fun-oriented than fighting-oriented (which is fine, just not my favorite format); I do not know Amata (though I'm happy for her); I'm not incredibly close to Lochlann, though we do get along well and I would consider him a friend; I'll have to go by myself; my truck has only recently returned from the shop; on the off chance that I do win, I'll either need to return or get someone to stand in for me; I could spend the time reading for school and working on Lochtoberfest stuff. It just seems to make more sense to not go. This really sucks because I do want to go. I like Castleton (though I don't want to drive down that hill). As far as schools go: I still want to go to SMU, but I'm still looking at other schools. Dedman School at SMU: Have connections there, in kingdom, good rapier, BUT not sure if I can get in TexWes: Should be able to get in fairly easily, same positives as SMU, BUT it's 3rd tier. This really begs the question if law schools rankings really matter all that much. Gonzaga: Top 100 school that I should be able to get into BUT I don't know anyone in Wash., it cold & snows there, I know little about SCA up there, and after reading their rapier rules, I'm not a fan. Richmond: Top 100 that I stand a decent chance of getting in to, but not guaranteed, I know a bit about Atlantia and their rapier is really good there, it'll be cold but it's still in the south, BUT I'm not 100% sure I'll get in and I don't really have any connections in Richmond or the area Florida State: Top 100 that I stand a good chance of getting in to, but not guaranteed, BUT it's Trimaris and their specialties are not ones in which I am interested. Arkansas: Top 100 that I should get in to, it's Gleann Abhann, I'm close to OK, I know some people in Kingdom, BUT they are not a big rapier kingdom, I don't know anyone in the area, and it's Arkansas. LSU: Top 100 that I should get in to, it's Gleann Abhann, I'm close to TX, I know some people in Kingdom, BUT they are not a big rapier kingdom, I don't know anyone in the area, and it's Louisiana.
I have no idea what I'm going to do..... BTW-Congrats Lisette. I got to be the first person to announce her as Dona!!!!

| Yay for car trouble!!!!! I spent Friday afternoon working on my truck, making it stop overheating. Then I had to stop the smoking. It should all be fixed now. Saw Zombieland too. That movie was great! Friday night I went to see the Aeroes play the Texas Stars. It was ok game. We lost. Cheerleaders were hot. No fights. Only one penalty. There should have been a lot more called though, at least against the Stars.
Went to Gate's Edge yesterday. The turnout was disappointing. I sucked at Thrown Weapons (as always), A&S and Bardic were both popular choice so I don't know how I did there. I tried a new poem & totally screwed the pooch. Hopefully, I'll have it worked out for this weekend. Fumbled once in the song, but it went well afterwards. Master Ihon won. He's always entertaining. I don't know how my A&S did. I got some votes, but I don't know how many. A Lady Irina won A&S. I do not know her. She entered a leather carved flask cover. Bastian won the Chiv. Yay Bastian! Leofwine won A&S. Yay Leofwine! Padraic won Archery. Yay Padraic! The rapier tourney consisted of Don Brian, Centurion Madog and myself with Don Shea testing out mettle as the outgoing champion. Everyone fought Everyone all five styles. I beat Shea with Single, but lost the other four styles. Darn Shea and ridiculously long arms and legs! I went 3 and two against Brian and only lost with buckler to Madog. That was enough to declare me rapier champion. After the event I went out for a birthday dinner. It was good hanging out with friends. Today was a slow, do nothing, lounge about day. Good day. BTW-I got a 96 on my Religion & Politics test. Still waiting to hear about my Con Law Midterm. | | |
